I have the privilege of academically mentoring some very wonderful young people. They may need a little help with their spelling and, but they are intelligent, funny and quite intuitive. However, they often don’t know it. It’s actually not difficult to teach them about grammar and punctuation, because my biggest challenge is to help them believe that they can fly.

It takes time and a lot of effort, but when a child or teenager finally comes to the realization that they are special and of worth, he or she will begin to believe in themselves and the possibilities become endless. All it takes is a concerted effort and support from people who continually affirm them and believe that there is nothing they can’t do if they put their mind to it.

What about you? My hope is that you have had and still have people in your life that did not clip your wings, but helped you to soar to great heights. There are so many of us who don’t realize that the potential God has placed in us is only limited by our thinking. No matter who we are, we must believe we are called and have a purpose ordained by Him. My friends, we have the ability to transcend our present and past difficulties and mount up like eagles, take flight, and soar.
