Breaking the Cycle

Bible Verse: Isaiah 14:3

And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve.

Breaking the Cycle:

Our lives are made up of cycles and seasons. For as long as we’ve lived, we can trace nature’s pattern and know what to expect when the seasons change. Spring follows winter and summer follows spring. We believe this is going to happen because it has happened before, and there are obvious signs that tell us what’s going to happen next.

When we go through our own personal periods of change, we sometimes get stuck repeating the same cycle. A wise man once said that to do the same thing again and again and expect a different result is insanity. There is a very good reason why we’re still where we are in our lives, and we could probably determine very easily what that reason is. Chances are we’ve been here many times before. However, as it’s not a desirable or healthy place to be, it’s time to break the cycle.

A good friend of mine emphasized to me the importance of regularly taking stock of where we are by reviewing how we got there. If you’re riding the debt roller coaster, you can’t seem to keep your joy, lose those 10 pounds, or meet someone that’s right for you, there is a good reason. The simple exercise of taking the time to chart your personal attitudes and choices will help you see how the cycle continues and where you can break it.

The Lord does not intend for His people to be trapped in negativity, repeating the same mistakes and behaviours over and over again. That is bondage. Jesus came that our lives would be abundant and our cup running over, so that we could share the secrets to an abundant life with those around us. Let’s pray now for direction on how to break the destructive cycles
in our lives.
