Bible Verse: Hosea 2:7
And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.
The thought I have today is for those women who find themselves single, by choice or design. Being single is not an easy, whether you are in a relationship or not. By societal standards, your life is in a holding pattern – and it’s not easy
to wait out the transition.
However, we sometimes concentrate so much on what we don’t have and lament that God has forgotten us in not giving us what we want that we forget that we already have all that we need in Him. So we begin to put things in front of Him — things that take His place in our lives. We seek the opinion of friends instead of asking Him for help. We find other ways to meet our financial needs instead of asking Him to share in our financial plans. We neglect Him by putting “more important” things in front of our time with Him.
Consequently, our want or our desire becomes our surrogate husband. It so consumes us that we begin to take care of
and nurture or relationship with the desire itself, rather than the person who can fulfill the desire, and who has promised to. He has promised to supply all our needs in Christ Jesus. It is time to go back to our first love and work within His will
for the fulfillment of our dreams.
