You Just Don’t Understand

Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. Psalms 147: 5

Often, when we are going through a rough period, we feel all alone in our struggle. Sometimes, it seems that even God doesn’t understand. Thankfully, we’re not alone in the universe. Everybody is struggling. Everybody is going through something that they would rather not. And the key to your breakthrough is always the same — the way you go through determines how long you go through.

How many times do we rationalize away our bad behaviour, our lack of faith and rampant unbelief by telling ourselves no one grasps the concept of the battle we face? We cry out to God that He just doesn’t understand what we’re going through. Why can’t we get what we want, doesn’t He see our need?

Next, we turn to man for comfort. Who, if not another human being, could relate and offer sympathy? Yet, if anyone even attempts to give us some direction or advice we don’t like, we become defensive and cry out once more, “nobody understands!”

We’ve all been there; the only thing that differs is the details and the degree of pain. You’d be surprised how many people can relate to your struggles.

The problem is that we’re so caught up in our own anguish that we have no interest in trying to alleviate anybody else’s. The fastest way to get through your struggle is to lend a helping hand to someone else.

Always remember that no one understands like Jesus. He will bare your burdens and provide comfort, but in His time,
not ours. Trust Him and let the Spirit provide the discernment you need to overcome and be victorious.
